IDI Hard at Work at the Federal Aviation Administration in Atlanta
Since last November, IDI, Inc. has been steadily at work at the Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) in Atlanta, GA. IDI, Inc. has teamed up with Leapley Construction Group, LLC (another woman-owned enterprise) for a "turn-key" project consisting of carpet replacement and new wall finishes for the Colliers-Keenan managed facility. IDI, Inc.'s tasks include disassembling the existing, occupied systems furniture, relocating the disassembled cubes, the cube contents and the computers for the duration of the construction and reassembling upon completion.
To maintain a productive work environment for the F.A.A. community, the project is being completed in phases. The logistics and management of such a project requires the energy and commitment of many. Carla Cooper and Heather Rich of Leapley, Ron Wilkerson of Colliers-Keenan, Brenda Lighter and DuRhunda Davenport-Willis of the F.A.A. and Patty Jervey of IDI, Inc. have been instrumental in the process and have spent countless hours scheduling, planning and managing various aspects of the project.
IDI, Inc. project manager, Patty Jervey, has the "Hit Crew" to thank for making the project a huge success thus far. The "Hit Crew" mainstays are Stephanie Iacobucci, Lee Hutson, Arnold Jones and Steph Mager. Says Jervey, "The project has been an inconvenience for the F.A.A. employees but our team goal is to minimize their discomfort and get them back into their cubes as quickly and as painlessly as possible. The work environment is cleaner as we use a HEPA vac to facilitate removal of ten years of dust. The new carpet is state-of-the-art with a cushioned backing. The finishes are warm, bright colors. It is surprising to me that a well-maintained facility can undergo such a transformation and look even better than before." When the IDI, Inc. crew walks out the door next December, they will have "touched" over 1600 cubes and offices.
